Tree Grant program aims to save local trees
Open to organizations and individuals in metro Portland and Vancouver area.
During our more than 90 years in business, General Tree Service has often volunteered tree preservation work to the community as a way of raising public awareness about the value of trees and caring for their long-term health.
In 2000 we established our Tree Preservation Grant program as an extension of that work with the intent of preserving a tree (or trees) in Portland Oregon and Vancouver WA that would otherwise not be helped simply due to an economic hardship of the owner.
Please note-we are no longer accepting applications for 2018. We will accept applications for next year starting on January 1, 2019.
Why was the Tree Preservation Grant established?
- To help qualified organizations and individuals who are unable to preserve valuable and irreplaceable trees on their own.
- To promote the need for quality arboricultural care to preserve the long term health of trees.
Our goal for Tree Preservation
To increase public awareness on the value of protecting and maintaining trees as part of a healthy environment. We also want to educate everyone on the role that continual tree care by a professional landscape care company (like General Tree Service) plays to ensure quality care while preserving the long-term health of trees.
Who may apply for the grant?
Anyone may apply though our primary focus is on parks, historic sites, museums, schools and low income governmental or municipal property in the Portland or Vancouver areas whose programs are enhanced by their trees. Added preference will be given to trees which have historical or environmental significance.
To make sure the grant goes to those who are truly in need, applicants must be able to demonstrate that the tree(s) would not be preserved without help from General Tree.
Grant covers all necessary services a tree requires to stay healthy for 1 year, including
- Plant Health Care
Please note: Only those in the Portland/Vancouver metro area are eligible for the grant. We are no longer accepting applications for 2018.
We are no longer accepting applications for 2018 and applications for next year can be submitted on January 1, 2019.
Please keep the tree grant in mind for any individual, non-profit or organization who may have a tree or trees that need preserving and do not have the resources available to do so.
