We are one of the first companies in the Pacific NW to be accredited under a new Tree Care Accreditation program administered by the Tree Care Industry Association. To obtain this, we have undergone and extensive review of our business practices, including an on-site audit performed by TCIA personnel.
General Tree’s Management Team
To achieve that, area reps are assigned to geographical regions in order to take better care of customers. This type of individual focus is how we are able to give our customers complete satisfaction, which keeps them coming back year after year.
Our team is made up of International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborists, trained tree and shrub professionals, plant health care technicians and insect and disease control experts. Ongoing training through workshops and seminars keep our staff up-to-date on new techniques in the industry.

I am a native to the Northwest, born and raised in the Portland Metropolitan area. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife Amy, children Grace and Cooper and my dogs Silvi and Arlo exploring the outdoors. I look forward to meeting you soon and helping you with your tree and landscape needs.
General Manager & Vancouver rep
I grew up in the green industry, working for a retail garden nursery next door to the house in which I was raised. Counting those early days, I have more than 40 years of experience working with plants, people and trees.
I started with General Tree Service as a Plant Health Care technician in 1990. From there, I worked my way up the ladder to General Manager and have been filling that role for the past 20 years while seeing the economy boom and bust.
Through it all, because of the great people I work with, we have successfully maintained some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Portland/Vancouver metro areas. I’m very proud of that.
My wife and I live in Brush Prairie WA with 2 dogs, 2 cats, many chickens and such! We are now empty nesters and have 3 grown kids and 2 grand kids. In my spare time (which isn’t much) I enjoy hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
I have been with General Tree Service since 1992. I am an ISA certified arborist and licensed with the state of Oregon as a Landscape Construction Professional.
I am also a licensed commercial pesticide applicator and pesticide consultant. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from North Park University in Chicago, IL.
I love spending my time outdoors. I especially enjoy hiking and exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. I love the Oregon coast and any trail that leads to a waterfall! I also enjoy taking road trips and exploring out of the way locations.
Pruning Crew Manager
I grew up in a very small central Wisconsin town in the heart of dairy country. Needless to say, I am a die-hard Packer fan. I moved to Portland in the fall of 2001 with a wonderful woman who later became my wife in the summer of 2014. Together we have two young boys, Leaf (born in the summer of 2009) and Jude (born in the spring of 2013).
I started my arboriculture career in the spring of 2006, became an ISA Certified Arborist three years later and have been working for General Tree Service since 2011. I’m also an ISA Tree Risk Assessor Qualified and a TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional.
If I’m not out managing crews or climbing trees, you can find me enjoying my son’s youth soccer games, watching Green Bay Football, Penguins Hockey or out camping with my family.
I am a 2nd generation arborist and native Oregonian. I grew up helping my dad in his business, Cowboy Tree Service in Roseburg, OR and have been working in the green industry in the Portland metro area for the last 30 years.
I have Bachelor degrees from Eastern Oregon University in biology and Oregon State University in animal science. Specializing in consulting, tree preservation and plant health care, I am an ISA certified arborist and tree risk assessment qualified.
I’m also licensed by the OSDA & WSDA in both ornamental & agricultural insect, disease & weed management, plus right of way and forestry.
As a Gold Card member of the Professional Cowboy Association I enjoy staying in touch with the sport. I enjoy all outdoor sports including the challenges of Geo Caching. My current daily find streak of 2,037 straight days currently ranks me 3rd in the state of Oregon.
I hail from everywhere as I grew up in all parts of the country. I wound up in the Pacific Northwest for school, where I majored in horticulture.
My love of the outdoors and plant life kept me in Oregon. I started my career at General Tree Service in 1994. I worked as a climber and plant healthcare technician for many years.
I have been serving our clients as a representative for over fifteen years, and I look forward to working with you and improving your landscape!
Commercial accounts & Wilsonville rep
I grew up in Eastern Washington spending my summers working on a wheat farm from high school all the way through college. I have a bachelor’s degree in Forestry/Geography from Eastern Washington University and Washington State University with a minor in Biology.
I have been involved in urban forestry for over 30 years and have been working for General Tree Service for over 27 years. I am an ISA certified arborist and am a licensed commercial pesticide applicator and consultant through the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
I enjoy fishing, hunting, golf and bowling but my biggest passion is competitive gardening and particularly, growing giant pumpkins. I have grown a personal best 1,868 lb. pumpkin and am ranked amongst the top 10 growers in the world.
I am a board member of the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth which oversees the competitive weighing of thousands of giant fruits and vegetables throughout the world. I am also a founder of the Pacific Giant Vegetable Growers, a Northwest group of competitive gardening fanatics! I welcome the opportunity to meet and work with you to help you care for your trees and landscapes throughout your home and business.
SW & NW Portland rep
I entered the tree care industry in 2005 after a severe windstorm rolled through my home state of Minnesota. In 2010, I moved to Portland to climb the beautiful trees of the Pacific Northwest.
After 15 years of swinging around in trees, I’m happy to put my passion and experience to work as the newest area representative at General Tree Service.
I graduated from Portland State University with a degree in philosophy and a certification in social entrepreneurship with studies focusing in behavioral economics, systems science, social innovation, and design thinking.
When I’m not immersed in the world of arboriculture, I’m busy with music, cycling, billiards tournaments, woodworking, leather working and spending time with my wife. I also volunteer on the board of directors for Robin’s Reach, a non-profit focused on community education and effectiveness monitoring for wetland restoration projects in the Portland metro area.
I have always loved spending time outdoors, both for work and play. I started in the green industry in high school and continued through college, working summer jobs with landscape crews, small nurseries, and for private landscapes. I continued to nurture my love of plants and earned a degree in Horticulture from Oregon State University.
I began with General Tree Service in 1999, and spent many years working in Plant Health Care department, primarily as the Turf technician. I really enjoyed getting to know our GTS customers while working to improve and maintain their landscapes. In recent years, I have transitioned into Customer Service, and taking on other office roles.
In my free time, I’m usually at a ball field or basketball court, cheering on our two teenage daughters. When we can pull away from sports, my husband and I enjoy taking the kids camping and exploring some of our great National Parks.
Landscape Design/Customer Service
I was born and raised on Kodiak Island, Alaska spending much of my childhood outdoors and on my father’s fishing boat. I graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Germanics and earned a teaching certificate there as well.
After 8 years as an elementary teacher, I moved to the Portland area. Soon thereafter, I began summer work as assistant to the head gardener for Washington Park and the Pittock Mansion. It was there I discovered my true passion in life. I have now worked with people, plants, and trees for the last 21 years.
My specialty lies in landscape design and consultations, planting projects, designing outdoor containers, and full on landscape renovations. I am also an ISA certified arborist and can assist with tree preservation as well as all aspects of our customers’ landscape needs.
In my free time, I savor time away from work with my family and our two dogs. We enjoy our beautiful outdoors with hikes in the gorge, camping on high alpine lakes, and summer days on the coast.
I was born and raised in small town Oklahoma and am a diehard Sooners fan. I moved to the Portland area in 1995 and began my career with General Tree Service in 2001. I spent my first 16 years with GTS as a customer service representative and then moved into accounting in 2017.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and son, snuggling with our dog Pearl (the Director of Barketing for General Tree), watching sports (especially college football), cooking and serving in our church.
I’ve lived in Oregon all my life and love all its green beauty. Before joining General Tree Service in 2001, I spent several years working in the “corporate world”. After the birth of my son, I knew I had to get out of it and find a career with more of a balance between home life and work life. I have found that here.
I started in Customer Service and shortly after transitioned into Human Resources and Office Manager. I have met a lot of great people here over the years and felt like a valued part of the company.
When not at work I enjoy spending time working in my yard, walking my dog and floating down the Clackamas River.
