Family owned and operated by Clint Landon,  we have been a leader in the arboricultural industry ever since we opened our doors in 1924 and started doing business in Portland.

Offering a wide range of tree care services from removal to pruning to landscape maintenance to holiday lighting, we serve Portland Oregon and the surrounding community as well as Vancouver and SW Washington.

To foster a family-like working atmosphere, we regularly host events throughout the year so our employees can get to know each other outside of work.  For example, May through October we have monthly barbecues as well as a big party around the holidays.

Our tree department is currently hiring tree crew leaders and climbing arborists.  As an incentive, a $500 sign-on bonus is being offering for any experienced Tree Crew Leaders and climbing arborists though people of all skill levels and experience are encouraged to apply.

Benefits listed above are for regular full time employees.  Depending on the number of hours they work, regular part-time employees may not qualify for all benefits or may have their paid holidays and vacation time adjusted accordingly.

Paid holidays

Throughout the year, regular full time employees get 7 paid holidays:  Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving (in lieu of Veterans Day).  If you are a regular part time employee who works more than 20 hours a week, you’ll be paid a portion of the holiday based on the number of hours you have worked during the 3 months prior to the holiday.

ENCOURAGE ONGOING EDUCATION

We want our employees to keep learning and advancing in our company. This is why we provide reimbursement for horticulture-related classes at local community colleges as long as they are directly related to your job.  Approval must be received from management before the class begins and if you receive a grade of A or B, we’ll pay for 100% of the class.

If the course is preparation for certification of licensing and the certificate of license is obtained, General Tree will reimburse you for 100% of the cost, regardless of the grade you received.  The course work must be directly related to your job description in order to be eligible for license tuition.

Please talk with management prior to class enrollment regarding whether or not a class qualifies.  In certain cases, employees may be approved for course work other than horticulture, depending on how it relates to their job.
